Warning. This story contains magic and miracles.
Along time ago, (when the Internet had not been revealed to the general public) I spent a huge amount of time trying to find the perfect home in L.A. I had joined special services for hefty fees that claimed to have an exclusive listing of unique rentals and I combed every listing in the papers, knowing what days they came out. I drove all over the coast with a desire to stay West of Centinela Avenue and looked at a lot of possibilities, some a complete waste of time, others worth considering but not quite the vision. I drew pictures, lit candles, chanted, prayed and eventually my hoodoo paid off in a very special way. I got a cottage on the grounds of an amazing senior citizen who was proud to say she was the oldest citizen in the village. It was a mile within the ocean and the price was a dream come true. Well under market-value because she felt it was more important to have the right neighbor and she prided herself on her ability to judge a good character. She didn’t even take a security deposit or last month payment. I had really hit the jackpot, as they say. And not just because it was such an ideal rental but because I had also attracted a special being, an inspiration and a good friend.
After moving in, I set about to make a relaxing sanctuary, an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of a very busy life (on a tight budget). I took the inspiration from another friend and went with a white column motif. I sourced big ones at the garden centers, using them to create shelves, tables and plant holders. One afternoon I was heading out the door for a walk on the beach. I remember casting an eye over the tiny sitting room feeling satisfied that the job was finished but also noting that I would like to have a candle holder on top of a shelf that seemed to be missing something. I suppose I was being mindful of the design principle: the chime of three. I had decided in that moment, I had visualized, a column candlestick.
I then went for the walk on the beach. It was a beautiful evening and the sun was setting in a vibrant sky of reds and oranges and the water wasn’t too cold as it lapped around my ankles. With the exception of a few runners a good distance away, it was all mine. I was feeling serene and full of appreciation when I felt something wash over my feet. I looked down and honestly, honestly, honestly, there was a wooden column candlestick floating back and forth in the ebb and flow. I literally rubbed my eyes and shook my head and when it was still there, I picked it up. It was real. I thought maybe it had fallen off a shipment somewhere and there may be more like it but I saw nothing else.
It was a little distressed from the salty water, which added to its effectiveness. I couldn’t believe it. My heart was pounding really hard. It was as if the universe had agreed with my earlier assessment and registered my desire. I felt an even great wave of appreciation! I also felt powerful! I manifested this! All those hours of vision work and clarity on what I wanted had gained the necessary momentum to manifest first the cottage and now this: the proverbial cherry on top. Wow.
I often reflect on it as an example of how the law of attraction can really work, even though I have to admit I’ve tried and tried again and my track record is mixed to say the least.
I’ve told the story over the years and some folks say they feel a shiver and others preach coincidence. Where that candlestick came from, remains a curiosity. Where it has been ever since, is in a special place in every home I’ve ever had in over four different countries, and eleven different houses. No matter how much downsizing and decluttering I do, this one is a keeper!
