Sky Art

We spend a lot of time sky gazing in our household. My husband did his PhD on Noctulent Clouds. They are high altitude and only seen from the Poles or observed through GEO Stationary satellites. When he looks at any cloud, he classifies it, estimates its size, distance and altitude, analyses, plots, etc. I take a more whimsical approach. I decipher the different things I can see in them, typically take a picture, and let my mind wander. Clouds, rainbows, the moon, stars, sunsets and rises, birds and their murmurations all inspire my curiosity; sometimes I even take guilty pleasure in airplane contrails despite their carbon footprint. Here are some of my favorite sky gazing moments.
