Trepekia

‘On Trepekia, the clouds are spindly neon rainbows. They cover the sky like fireworks frozen in time.’

In the future, we have greater world cooperation, a common language, and we’re post first contact with the Trepekians, aliens who found us after centuries of searching space for sentient life. Leesha Laine, an athletic eighteen-year old, is travelling to Trepekia as part of the first interstellar college program, after enduring tough trials to secure her coveted place. Leesha is confident in the water, having won swim medals, but insecure in the classroom. Brain patches help with her dyslexia but her whimsy and energy make it hard to focus. She can’t believe she earned a coveted place in the program, and is fearless about the risks of interstellar travel.

With no written language on Trepekia, Leesha enjoys learning its history through didactic tomes and paintings, and forms a friendship with Ranger Tyne Evans—a Moon Kid who was genetically designed for space life. Trepekia is his first tour—his first time away from the cold moon and its utilitarian base. When Leesha feels strange changes in her body, and believes her memory is being erased, she enlists Tyne’s help. Searching for answers, they find themselves entangled in one of Trepekia’s greatest mysteries concerning the Xvalians—the ancient race that gave their technology to the Trepekians before dying off.  Soon, they find themselves on a whirlwind journey that includes underwater archaeology, battling vicious species, and making a startling discovery about Leesha’s legacy.
